A handful of starlets hit the red carpet last night to celebrate the grand opening of America Eagle's new flagship store in NYC. The Gossip Girl crowd was well-represented, with Leighton Meester cozying up to Michelle Trachtenberg and Jessica Szohr. Adrian Grenier, Pete Wentz, and Ashlee Simpson were also out to browse the offerings at the new space in Times Square. Ashlee was able to see Pete man the DJ booth between rehearsals for Chicago, and her sister Jessica is getting "chillibumps" just thinking about Ash's Broadway debut.
Pete wasn't the evening's only entertainment — Leighton Meester donned a pair of kaleidoscopic leggings to perform four songs, including her single, "Somebody to Love." You guys aren't sure what to make of Leighton's racier styles, but she really threw her all into the performance. Good things seem to be happening for American Eagle, and it looks like they've already recruited more than a few famous fans.

Rumored Couple Alert: Rihanna and Tristan Wilds!
When it comes to dating, Chris Brown may be "just chilling," but the abuser's ex is moving on!
New reports are linking Rihanna with 90210 stud Tristan Wilds, following a party the singer held over the weekend at her Los Angeles home. He attended it, much to the surprise of other guests.
"No one knew why Tristan was there initially because it was not an industry party," a witness told The New York Daily News. "But everyone quickly realized they weren't meeting for the first time because they were openly affectionate for everyone to see."
Wilds got his big break on The Wire and has appeared in multiple music videos, including Jay-Z's "Roc Boys." He's working on his own CD and was introduced to Rihanna by a music producer.
"He's a real gentleman," said a source. "She likes him a lot, and it shows. From the moment he walked into her party, Rihanna lit up."
In September, Rihanna was romantically linked to Justin Timberlake. We wonder if he's now crying a river over the news that she's in sync with Wilds.

Is Sarah Palin Newsweek cover sexist? Palin says yes
Maybe Sarah Palin should be pleased with Newsweek’s cover shot. After all, it could give her ammo for a sequel, perhaps entitled “Going Rogue II: Sarah Palin Unloaded.”
The former Alaska governor isn’t happy with Newsweek for featuring her on the cover of its magazine. Whether she’s upset with the article or not isn’t known. But the photo they chose? That’s another story.
Run to the hills
Newsweek decided to use a photograph originally used for a Runners World article published last August. No, it’s not like she’s all sweaty, haggard, and ready to collapse at the end of a marathon or anything — in fact, it’s just the opposite.
It’s more like a glamour shot. Sure, she’s in running gear but it’s apparent that she hasn’t begun the workout yet. She’s posing in her old office clutching two Blackberries and leaning on an American flag. This was an OK photo for Runners World, she says, but not for a serious news story. It’s sexist and out of context.
“The choice of photo for the cover of this week’s Newsweek is unfortunate,” Palin wrote on her Facebook page. “When it comes to Sarah Palin, this ‘news’ magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner’s World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness — a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation.”
“The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context,” she adds.
Newsweek bad
She actually took it easy on Newsweek. She could have wondered aloud about their financial situation. According to the Washington Post third quarter’s earning report, the news magazine is losing money and its subscriber base is expected to drop to 1.5 million in January 2010 from 3.1 million earlier this year.
Not to mention that it appears that the news magazine ran the photo without permission from Runner’s World.
Reads an Editors Note at Runner’sWorld.com: “On the cover of this week’s issue of Newsweek is a photo that was shot for the August 2009 issue of Runner’s World , in which Sarah Palin was featured on the monthly ‘I’m a Runner’ back page. Runner’s World did not provide Newsweek with the image. Instead, it was provided to Newsweek by the photographer’s agency, without Runner’s World’s knowledge or permission.”
Perhaps this is something that Runner’s World isn’t that upset about after all. It’s interesting to observe that right after the “Editor’s Note” is a promo to see their original photo slideshow of Palin.
Too sexy!
Some people have rushed to Palin’s defense, however. Like the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody.
“You’ve got to hand it to the folks at Newsweek,” Brody writes. “They have accomplished being biased and sexist at the same time. Quite a feat. This cover has got to be a new low right? They don’t use a photo of Palin on the campaign trail. No instead they take the sexy Runners World photo.”
Didn’t she pose for it though?
“Yes she posed for it but don’t tell me they didn’t purposely use that photo to make a point?” Brody said before asking the whereabouts of “sexy photos of Tim Pawlenty with an unbuttoned shirt relaxing on a couch in the Twin Cities.”
Yeah, where are those, anyway?
Payback
Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift says reactions like Brody’s aren’t surprising. It’s something that conservatives will jump on.
“Why do right-wing men rush to Sarah’s side to defend her?” Clift asks. “My theory is that this is payback time. They’ve been called sexist and racist, and subjected to media ridicule of their allegedly retro views. Palin is their way to push back against the elites that have marginalized them.”
What about that photo?
As for the use of the photo, Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham defended the decision saying it was “the most interesting image available.”
“We apply the same test to photographs of any public figure, male or female: does the image convey what we are saying? That is a gender-neutral standard,” he said.

Blake Lively
Yes, you read that right. According to the N.Y.Times, on an average day at the Robert G. Salon in the West Village in Manhattan, Robert Gioria fields many different requests, but fueled by the same goal: to have "Blake Lively hair."
In the '90s, there was the “Rachel,” named for Jennifer Aniston’s character on the TV show Friends. Before Rachel it was the “Farrah,” for Farrah Fawcett.
As we know, Lively, 22, who plays Serena on Gossip Girl, has extra long, ultra-shiny blond tresses with a mussed-up tussle frolicking through the ends.
In other words, the woman and the tresses combine for "aspirational hair,” said John Barrett, whose salon sits atop Bergdorf Goodman in Midtown Manhattan. His clients “don’t just want the hair, they want the lifestyle.”
In the last six months, Lively’s cut - an exercise in studied dishevelment - has been his most requested. “I didn’t really realize the extent of it,” Blake said of her hair’s popularity, though she says she gets a lot of questions.
“It's always kind of odd, but unbelievably flattering.”
On Gossip Girl or in real life, Blake Lively's hairstyle is a popular trend - even an aspirational one for many women in New York City and beyond.
In fact, a Google search of “Blake Lively Hair” produces 713,000 results, many of them “how to’s.” Whether it works on just anyone is another story.
Some say Lively's look only works for tall, slim women, but clearly her hair appeals to all demographics. “Textured and Tousled," or "Curled and Swirled” styling is rising in popularity, rather than the flat-ironed look of seasons past.
This is attributed in large part to Blake Lively.
“I was born with a head full of hair,” said Blake, who maintains her look is mostly natural - no extensions, but some blond touched up by her stylist.
The only problem? "Some girls are born with amazing hair,” said one stylist, adding that hair like Lively’s “may set some unrealistic expectations.”
Hard to argue with that.

Blake Lively Featured in Marie Claire

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively is featured in the new issue of Marie Claire this month, and needless to say, the 22-year-old looks stunning as always.
Below are some excerpts and photos from Blake's interview ...
On acting: "As a character, I get to be this wild, outgoing person that I’m so not. It comes from being the youngest of five. I was always observing my siblings and hearing stories about their lives that turned out to to be helpful as an actress."
On Gossip Girl fashion and expression: "Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have - I have long blonde hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too.
I’ve learned an incredible amount about fashion on Gossip Girl. For me, clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I’m at a point when I am growing, maturing, developing, I’m going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes."
On being a Southern girl at heart: "I grew up in L.A., but I was the only one in my family born there. I have a tight-knit Southern family, so whenever I tell people I’m from L.A., they say, 'Yeah but you don’t count.'
I guess it's because of the Southern values I was raised with, and the way I eat - the more sugary and cheesy and fried, the better.
On her early school daze: "When I was only 3 years old, my mom enrolled me in the first grade. My older brother was supposed to start school, but he didn’t want to go alone, so my mom told them I was 6 since I was so tall. But after a few weeks, they said they would have to put me in mentally disabled classes because I wasn’t up to pace with the rest of the kids.
They thought that I was slow because all I wanted to do was sleep while the other kids were doing their projects. [laughs] So my mom took me out of school.”

How to Get Blake Lively's Fresh-Faced Look

What's the best complement to the season's super-bold lash look? Decidedly pretty, sweet rosy lips, as seen on Blake Lively at a benefit hosted by Chanel.
Makeup artist Angela Levin, who created the look, tells Us Weekly she wanted something to match the stunning simplicity of the star’s diamond brooch.
She thus opted for dark, sexy eyes, but the rest of her face light and fresh.
To get the look, Angela said she lined the Gossip Girl actress' upper and lower lashes with shimmering black liner and stroked on three coats of mascara.
She then created the perfect pink shade for lips by blending two shades - first, a nude shade, followed by a slightly darker one to get the perfect pink hue.
The result? A gorgeous Blake Lively ....

Blake Lively Hearts Serena van der Woodsen Fashion

In real life, Blake Lively may not be very similar to Upper East Side vixen Serena van der Woodsen. Well, except for her Gossip Girl alter ego's style.
“I dress just like Serena!” Blake admits in the November issue of Nylon magazine. “I own half her wardrobe, so it’s far too similar to how I dress!”
“I feel ridiculous at times with her, because I’m, you know, killing someone or marrying someone, but I look like me. I’m like, ‘Oh, this is absurd.’”
Having her Gossip Girl fashion mesh so seamlessly with her personal signature style, however, isn’t something that happens with most of her roles.
Blake Lively and Serena both look amazing.
“When I’m doing a movie, I hide behind the character’s hair or makeup or clothes. If I can transform myself, then people will believe that’s who that is," says the 22-year-old Blake. "And I need to believe that’s who that is.”
One fringe benefit of trying out a persona? Getting in new products that she might not try on herself, including her latest beauty obsession which she picked up on the set of her next movie, The Town: press-on nails.
“They’re really amazing,” she says.

Like Gossip Girl herself, we're lucky to receive tips from our readers sometimes. One just sent us a series of pictures taken on the set of the show today.
The cast is filming episode 13 of this season - we think that's "Jenny, Full of Grace" and scheduled to air January 11. What do the grainy photos depict?
It's unclear. But it appears to be Serena and Nate kissing behind that screen. Doesn't it? After he bared his soul last night, it wouldn't be too surprising.

Britney Spears

Wow. Britney Spears is ... just... OMG. Wow. Just wow.
With this girl, that's about all we can say at this point.
Once the biggest star on Earth, Britney Spears has gone, in the span of just a few years, from a music standout and international sex symbol to a slow moving train wreck and a total catastrophe, then slowly back to normal. It's been a wild ride.
We love Britney Spears despite her two divorces, two little kids (Sean Preston and Jayden James), a career that looks worse by the day and her possible loss of marbles. How can you not stick by your girl 4 life, right? Right. We got your back, B.
Britney Spears has brought so much to our lives... a bunch of catchy hit songs as well as raw entertainment, and for awhile, some really, really hot photos and videos.
Come what may, good or bad times, slow or crazy news week, Britney Spears will be the leading lady of this celebrity gossip site ... 4-ever. Go Britney!
The decline began when she married Kevin Federline in 2004 and pretty much ended her career, but it was not until late 2007 when Britney Spears' life hit bottom. Her MTV VMA performance (pictured) was a real low point for the girl.
Then, in the span of just a few months, she became friends with Sam Lutfi (also known as Osama Lutfi), denied pregnancy rumors (J.R. Rotem was said to have knocked her up on two different occasions), had romantic dalliances with a member of the paparazzi (dating Adnan), been hospitalized for two psychotic meltdowns (resulting in total loss of custody of Sean and Jayden) amid a sea of cops, medical personnel and mass hysteria.
Since the hospital stays in early 2008, Britney Spears has been doing a lot better the help of her father, Jamie Spears, who has stepped in to take over her legal and financial affairs and stabilize her existence in general.
It was long overdue. Let's hope it lasts.
Britney's brother, Bryan Spears, has also been by her side to help her through the tough times. He recently got married to Graciella Sanchez. Britney and Bryan also have a sister, of course, in unwed teen mom Jamie Lynn Spears. That's right, Jamie and Lynne Spears named a kid Jamie Lynn. Gotta love it.
In the summer of 2008, Jamie Lynn (who is engaged to baby daddy Casey Aldridge) cranked out a l'il girl named Maddie Briann. Britney's an aunt, y'all!!!
Despite the haters' and leeches' efforts to bring down his recovering daughter, Jamie Spears has done one hell of good job making sure Britney stays focused on her career - and stays out of the limelight whenever she can.
Instead of clubbing with no pants like she used to, she's content working out and shopping a lot, steering clear of the problematic places and people who ruined her life for the past few years.
In September 2008, Britney won three awards at the VMAs, signaling perhaps once and for all that she's back.
Her new album, Circus, has spawned a number of hits, including "Womanizer," the title track and the controversial "If U Seek Amy."
Why is it controversial? Say the title five times fast.
There, now you know. You're very welcome.
Britney has embarked on a world tour to promote Circus in early-to-mid 2009 and K-Fed even agreed to let Sean Preston and Jayden James come along.
Hooray for Britney!
Best of all, Britney's dating her longtime agent, Jason Trawick, as of mid-2009. He's a little bit older, totally mature and just the influence she needs.
TEAM BRITWICK!
We can only guess what's next in the life of Britney Spears, but we can tell you two things:
We're glad she didn't die in late 2006-early 2008, which wasn't something we took for granted.
The Hollywood Gosssip will be there following Brit's career and life every step of the journey.
